Our Involvement

We are proud to maintain a strong and active presence within the Centre Wellington Community year-round, not just during our event in August. From participating in celebrations like Tartan Day or the CW Multicultural Festival, to supporting local initiatives, and more.

We are deeply rooted in the cultural fabric of our region. These events allow us to celebrate Scottish heritage with residents of all backgrounds and contribute to the vibrant diversity that defines our community.

Kilt Skate

The Great Canadian Kilt Skate was started by the Scottish Society of Ottawa as a way to celebrate the contributions of Scottish people in Canada. Dozens of cities participate every winter, kilts and all!

The Fergus Scottish Festival & Highland Games is proud to sponsor a free public Kilt Skate at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex every February! With local pipe bands and Highland dancers, hot chocolate, shortbread, and flag bearers on the ice.

Join us February 22, 2026 at 4:30pm!

Tartan Day

A global celebration of all things Scottish, Tartan Day is a chance to honour our ties to Scotland. Celebrated on April 6, it marks the signing of the Declaration of Arbroath in 1320, Scotland’s own Declaration of Independence.

In 2026, you can join the Fergus Pipe Band and Grand Celtic Pipe Band in downtown Fergus as they play some tunes on April 12th!

Centre Wellington Multicultural Festival

As a cultural Festival ourselves, we are happy to participate in the festivities at the Multicultural Festival! Sharing and educating on Scottish culture is part of our mission, and we strive to celebrate the multicultural community we live in.

Community Organizations

As a way of FUNdraising, local community organizations partner with us on the weekend supporting our parking, gates and site maintenance.

In recognition of their support and hard work, we provide a monetary donation to each group. In 2025, we were immensely proud to have donated over $23,000 to Elora Rocks Lawn Bowling, Highland Rugby Club, Elora Curling Club, Big Brother Big Sisters of Centre Wellington, Community Resource Centre of North & Centre Wellington, Centre Wellington Food Bank, Fergus Curling Club, Rotary District 7080e Club, Royal City Roller Derby, Grand River Mustangs, Fergus-Elora Rotary, 4H Exchange, and the Fergus & District Camera Club.
