Sunday Race

10K, 2x5K Relay, Kids Fun Run

The Fergus Highland Games 10k Run is a sanctioned event of the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games.

This scenic 10k race is a community event with proceeds supporting local youth athletic programs.

The single loop course for the Fergus Highland Games 10k Run winds through quiet, established neighbourhoods and along picturesque country roads in the beautiful Fergus and Elora countryside before returning to Victoria Park in Fergus.

Race participants will enjoy the support of the friendly neighbours cheering them on. Participants, their families and supporters are welcome to join us at the Festival all day Sunday following the race.

The race is run in partnership with the Guelph Victors

Our very own bagpiper, Robin Aggus, will be piping the athletes off at the start of our race.

Information about the Guelph Victors Running Club

The Guelph Victors were coordinated and coached from 2004 to 2016 by John Marsden, a talented local runner and aficionado of good things (coffee, wine, bread …). A protégé of Victor Matthews, after whom the club was named, he picked up the pieces after Vic’s passing and grew the club into an organization of close to 100 active member/runners with multiple weekly workouts. John still directs the Guelph series of road races, and he also operates Speed River Timing. It has expertise in state-of-the-art timing for all different types of athletic events.

The Guelph Victors Club is allied with the Speed River Track Club of Guelph, one of the strongest track and filed clubs in Canada, which includes nationally-ranked athletes in their prime, including seven 2016 Rio Olympians. The club is also closely connected to the Running Works store in Guelph. Many of their group runs begin at the store, Victors runners often lead running clinics there, and graduates of the clinics sometimes become Victors!”
