McKiddies Childrens' Area Program
2018 Program Available all day - Saturday 9 to 5 & Sunday 9 to 4
Once again, children of all ages will have a chance to practice their marksmanship and take aim at the enemy stronghold! Our safe, foam-tipped LARP Archery equipment will be available throughout the day for hours of shooting fun on Saturday and Sunday!
Outdoor Curling Rink
Fun for the whole family! Try out this famous traditional Scottish sport on a pint-sized scale at the synthetic outdoor ice rink. Hurry Hard all day Saturday and Sunday!
Toddlers dress-up… you can be a princess, or a valiant knight, or a valiant princess knight, or a host of other cool characters!
Kids can make and decorate their own special Royal Crown or relax and do some colouring in the shade of the McKiddies main tent. All materials are provided to create your own one-of-a kind masterpiece all day Saturday and Sunday!
Toddlers will have tons of fun bouncing around on inflatable animals!
Did you know that golf originated in Scotland?
Is your child the next Tiger Woods? Bounce the ball off the walls and angles, and find just the right path to get your ball into the hole, and you will win!
Pirate Ship Slide
Ahoy Mateys! Get ready to ride this colourful and fun Pirate Ship. Climb on in and bounce before taking a slide down! Little ones have so much fun with this one!
In addition to all of these activities, there are also some fantastic photo opportunities to be had around the McKiddies venue with “Nessie” and the introduction of some new characters called “The Fergus Folks”. Look for them and strike a pose for that perfect family snap-shot. “Say Cheese!”

What would you like to be? A butterfly, a pirate or even a tiger? Cleo and Her Friends create miles of smiles with their artistic abilities – and it’s FREE Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 4!
You can pick up your passports at the gates when you arrive at the Festival, at the Inforrmation Centre, in the Heritage/Clans area or McKiddies area. Children can go from venue to venue getting their passports stamped with unique stamps- Clans, McKiddies, Info, Heavies, Heritage…. wherever the Passport Sign is. When a minimum of 10 stamps are collected, the Information Tent will give them a treat.
Learn to play the ukulele
Join local musician and teacher Adrian Jones in an interactive ukulele workshop, special for kids! Learn a few chords and how to strum this wee but fun and easy-to-learn instrument!
Every generation produces a celtic musician that is talked about, revered and respected in the idiom: D’Arcy Furniss, fiddler, judge, teacher, entertainer-extraordinaire has made playing the fiddle cool again, with a rock and roll swagger. D’Arcy is a free spirit and a great musician that expands the expressive interpretation of traditional Irish and Scottish—never too far removed from his Glengarry musical roots. Be prepared to be transported.
HIghland Fighters &
Live Sword Fighting Demo
Swords, Shields and a Mighty HaZaaaah! These stage fighters will not only show you arms and armour of the medieval era but they will let you hold them and try stuff on. If you are brave enough come into the ring and get a photo op while doing battle with one of these warriors and don’t forget to catch their fight demos during the day.
Magic of Angus MacGregor
Illusions, coin and card tricks and maybe a vanishing item or two are just a small part of a show that will leave you laughing and in a little bit of awe…..be amazed by the talent and comedy of Theatricks’ own lead magician.
Juggling Hijinx Highlanders
Come out and see these crazy young guys try to wow you with their interactive juggling.
Be aware there will be elements of danger, amazement , silliness and of course lots of high energy action.
